Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium School lead: Hayley Lloyd-Davies

What is it?

Pupil Premium is a government initiative that provides extra money for pupils in school who are entitled to Free School Meals, children who are Looked After Children and service children. The government believes that Pupil Premium is the best way to support all children by providing schools with additional funding to narrow attainment gaps between groups of pupils.

What is available from the Pupil Premium package?

  • Help with the cost of school uniform
  • A contribution to trips and events
  • A contribution to enrichment activities, such as after school clubs
  • Free daily child's serving of milk
  • Targeted support during class times (if required)

Why has it been introduced?

Pupil Premium funding has been introduced as a way of addressing the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers. It ensures that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. Whilst schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit we are required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium.
